PAO serves as the employer of record for the people we serve who "hire and fire" their own direct care staff. The PAO administrative staff recruit direct care staff candidates, orient and train those selected, and provide financial and payroll services to our employees. Most of our administrative staff have worked as direct care workers and are intimately familiar with the importance of the work to the people served as well as the joys and challenges of direct care work. In fact, a few of our office staff still work in direct care roles as part of their job at PAO.
