PAO Positions
Direct Care Staff
Personal Assistants, Stipend Sleepers, and Resident Companions are employed to work with individuals with disabilities or mental illness in the consumers' homes and to support their activities within the community. These positions are all considered direct care staff.
Direct care staff are employed by Personal Assistance Options, Inc. (PAO), but must meet the expectations and the needs of the individual consumer that is served.
It is the philosophy of PAO that people served, often with family members and friends, will play a major role in selecting their direct care staff, defining the work that needs to be done, and deciding the times of service that work best for them.
All issues and concerns relating to employment, compensation, policies and procedures, work schedules and working conditions should be brought to the PAO Administrative Staff by the direct care staff as soon as possible
Job interviews, scheduling and Personal Assistant job performance assessments may be provided by the PAO Administrative Staff by a CMH/CM Supports Coordinator and/or by an independently employed Supports Coordinator.
Office Staff
Office Staff roles include: Executive Director, Services Manager, Staff Accountant, Services Coordinator, Accounts Receivables and Billing Specialist, Benefits and Services Specialist, Training and Services Specialist, Billing and Payroll Clerk, Administrative Assistant, Office Assistant
Office staff provide HR, financial, scheduling, training and other office support for the people served by PAO and for the direct care staff.
PAO offer both part time and full time employment opportunities. PAO offers a competitive benefit package to full time employees after they have worked full-time hours for 12 consecutive weeks.
1. Basic Employment Requirements · Must be 18 years of age or older · Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent · Must own a reliable vehicle for transportation of consumers · Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License (PAO will make a copy which must be updated upon renewal)
· Must have current Michigan Certificate of Insurance for your vehicle (PAO will make a copy which must be updated upon renewal or coverage change) · Must have a current Michigan Vehicle Registration for your vehicle (PAO will make a copy which must be updated upon renewal or vehicle change) · Must have a negative drug test (paid for by PAO) · Must have a clean criminal and recipient rights record · It is the responsibility of the PAO employee to inform the administrative staff as soon as possible of any change in their circumstance which will affect their eligibility for employment at PAO
2. Training course requirements (Personal Assistant staff must make arrangements to attend courses to comply with the following course requirements - schedule course work through the PAO office - 989-837-8350) · Recipient Rights training must be completed within 30 days of beginning work for PAO (Community Mental Health requirement). This training must be updated every five years. Sign up for training with the PAO office · Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation training must be completed and a test must be passed within 60 days of hire to obtain your Red Cross certification; this must be updated annually to maintain certification · First Aid training must be completed within 60 days of hire and must be updated every three years to maintain your Red Cross certification · Blood borne Pathogens training must be completed within 60 days of hire and updated annually (OSHA requirement) · Medication Training must be completed before medications can be passed to consumers or within 60 days of employment if medication passes are not a required part of your job
3. Other Employment Requirements · Federal Government: Federal W-4, I-9 must be completed before starting work and the Federal W-4 must be updated annually. · State of Michigan: New Hire Reporting Form, Michigan State W-4 must be completed before starting work and the MI W-4 must be updated annually. · PAO Employee Information Form, Acknowledgement of Receipt and Understanding of PAO Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook, Direct Deposit of Paycheck (if desired) · Picture taken for Picture ID (a $3 charge will be assessed for a replacement picture ID badge)
